Handbrake is an open source free Video Converter that converts from common multimedia files including un protected DVDs or Blu Ray sources to a large number of output formats. Its a cross platform available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS x .Outputs:
File Containers: MP4(M4V) and MKV
Video Encoders: H.264(x264), MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 (libav), or Theora(libtheora)
